New York will be getting a permanent Jim Henson exhibit at the Museum of the Moving Image in Brooklyn. A Kickstarter campaign was started to raise the funds and it passed its $40,000 goal within the first 24 hours.
MoMi is partnering up with Jim Henson’s visual effects company Creature Shop to launch the exhibit, which will include over 175 puppets from The Muppet Show, Sesame Street, Fraggle Rock, The Dark Crystal, and Labyrinth. The money raised from the Kickstarter will help to restore some of the puppets that need work as well as create the cases to safely store them in.
The museum’s executive director Carl Goodman shared a statement about the exhibit.
“We are honored to be working with the designers and builders at the legendary Jim Henson’s Creature Shop to restore and preserve the puppets for future generations. And we are excited to be partnering with Kickstarter on reaching our goal.”
