More Americans are going camping than ever according to numbers gathered from Kampgrounds of America. The number of people taking random camping trips has actually dipped, but the number of people taking three or more trips in a year has continued to increase.
In 2014, 61 percent of Americans went camping, which was an increase from 58 percent in 2013. In 2016, it was estimated that 37 million American homes made at least one camping trip.
More than half of all millennials plan on doing more camping in 2017, and 90 percent of Gen X teenagers say that they will camp as adults. Millennials are more likely to prefer camping in large groups compared to any other age group.
Tents are still the preferred lodging while camping, but the popularity of RV’s and cabins is growing as well.
