Haiti is expected to see an increase in tourism thanks to tourism stakeholders. The country was a popular Carribean destination in the 1960’s and 70’s but then fell off the map due to its political leadership.
However, there has now been a peaceful government for the past ten years and the country is starting to bounce back. There is still a lot of poverty in the country, but there has also been a growing middle class which means that the risks to go there are not necessarily any more than any other comparable area.
It is suggested that visitors hire a tour operator to ensure safety, though, as well as to get the most out of the experience since there is so much to see. There are several hotels that most travelers would be comfortable in, beautiful beaches, and a lot of history to take in.
