The Leaning Tower isn’t bringing in enough tourist action for Pisa, so now their planning on building a ferris wheel to see if that will help.
Pisa’s culture commissioner Andrea Ferrante shared the news of the ferris wheel, saying that it will be over 165-feet-tell. For comparison’s sake, the tower is 183 feet tall. Ferris wheels are actually pretty popular in tourist locations, such as the London Eye right on the river banks in London.
However, not everyone thinks it’s such a great idea since the taste of a ferris wheel can be debatable. An organization called Italia Nostra has their interest in keeping Italy historic feels that the addition will “clash” with the Medieval architecture.
The ferris will be testing out this summer to see how people respond.
