Australia is planning to start offering wi-fi at their theme parks in an effort to increase tourism. The Liberal National Party of Queensland leader Tim Nicholls plans to create 500 hotspots at key tourist attractions.
Tourism has taken hit at the Gold Coast, and introducing the new wi-fi is intended to create some much-needed interest. One of the parks in the area called Dreamworld had a bad accident last year where four people were killed, so they’ve been doing what they can to bring back the visitors that they lost because of that.
Tim spoke out about the plan at a press conference.
“Tourism plays an important role in Queensland, it’s one of the foundations of our economy, and that’s why we’re here today to support the theme parks.”
The plan to add that many new hot spots will cost around $3 million.
