Airbnb has purchased the company Luxury Retreats which is similar in concept but more high end, boasting “high-quality listings, world class concierge service and a range of amenities.”
The luxury company has 4,000 properties listed from all over the world, including impressive spots like Sir Richard Branson’s Necker Island in the Carribean, and Francis Ford Coppola’s Italian villa Palazzo Margherita.
While Airbnb is known for providing extremely reasonable rates for stays of all kinds, they have also done a lot of work in the higher end realm. Celebrities like Beyonce, Gwenyth Paltrow, and the Kardashian family have used the company to rent properties.
Airbnb reportedly paid $300 million in their acquisition of Luxury Retreats. The company has also recently introduced a Trips feature for curated experiences, and they have plans to head into car rentals and flight booking as well.
