Ikea has shared that they will start selling rugs and textiles made by Syrian refugees. The items will be a part of a limited run that will give jobs to 200 refugees who are living in Jordan.
Ikea’s managing director Jesper Brodin released a statement about the move, which will offer the products in a variety of Middle Eastern countries.
“The situation in Syria is a major tragedy of our time, and Jordan has taken a great responsibility in hosting Syrian refugees. We decided to look into how Ikea can contribute.”
This project has been in the works for a while, and the company states that the support “the fundamental rights of all people, and do[es] not accept any form of discrimination.”
