There’s a hidden beach in Mexico that requires an hour-long boat ride followed by a swim to reach, but the location of the aptly named Hidden Beach is surrounded by a cave with the whole in the top.
It’s thought that the hole in the top of the cave was actually formed during World War I when the Marietas Islands were totally uninhabited and used for bombing practice, but the result is beautiful.
Along with an interesting beach to relax on, the area also offers great snorkeling opportunities around the coral reefs.
The beach is located off the coast of Puerto Vallarta in the Islas Marietas. In 2005 the islands were turned into a national park after Jacques Cousteau started campaigning to protect them back in the 1960’s.
