Airbnb has had quite a successful experience in the home rental department, so now they’re making moves to enter the air travel market as well. The company would be directly competing with existing ones like Priceline Group Inc. and Expedia Inc.
The new feature is said to be called Flights, but there has been no direct confirmation from the company about when that option might become available.
According to Bloomberg “This is where Airbnb intends to provide suggestions for the best airfare options based on price, travel time and expected weather conditions, said the people familiar with the plans.”
Airbnb recently launched their Trips service, which offers the ability to book tours and restaurant reservations directly through the site. The expansion into airfare seems like a natural progression and attempt to cover all the travel bases.
