Staying in hotels is generally pretty standard for travelers, but since they see so many people coming and going out of their doors they can also get a bit germy. Not that there’s much you can do about it besides avoid (or clean up) some of the dirtiest spots in hotel rooms.
One item that does not get the proper cleaning that it should is the remote controls, and you can imagine how many fingers are on them. The light switches and the phone get a similar amount of hand traffic. Bringing along your own disinfectant wipes can help with that.
Some people say that those cups in the bathrooms don’t always get a scrub down between guests if they don’t seem to have been used, so you might want to get in the habit of washing those yourselves or asking for new ones.
The bathrooms tend to get some serious cleaning, but sometimes the heavy duty cleaners that are used to wash the shower and tub can be left behind and could use an extra rinse. Many people are sensitive to the cleaning supplies and you don’t necessarily want to get it on your skin if you can help it.
The drapes in hotel rooms aren’t taken down often, which means they don’t get cleaned a lot. You’re probably not spending a lot of time playing in them, but the kids might be.
