The Highlands dome suites located in Tanzania right at the edge of the Olmoti Crater offer some of the best views that you can find in the area. They are located at a higher altitude than any other accommodation in the area, offering guests unobstructed views of the Gol Mountains to the Empakaai and Olmoti craters.
The Highlands is made up of eight dome-shaped tented suites, which are constructed from both canvas and glass. They feature stylish interiors with traditional artwork, and each holds a king-sized bed, a bathroom with running hot water and flush toilets, as well as floor-to-ceiling windows that overlook the Serengeti.
The domes are also eco-friendly. The camp relies on the energy of a full solar plant, and collects rainwater off the tents to cut down on their footprint as much as possible.
The spherical shape of the domes are more energy efficient than a rectangle shaped room is, and they also have less surface area which means that they are less affected by the changing temperatures outside.
Guests at the unique lodgings can climb the nearby Olmoti volcano or drive through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area to check out the leopards, buffalo, elephants, and zebra.
