Leonardo DiCaprio’s eco-resort Blackadore Caye Resort won’t be open until late 2018. but some renderings of what the Belize property will look like have been released.
Leonardo owns the island, and is hoping to revitalize the environment surrounding it the process of building the resort. The original design plan was to have overwater bungalows, but instead they will keep things all on land where there will be 36 resort bungalows and 36 estate homes for rent.
To ensure that the setup is eco friendly, water will be collected from rainwater to be reused, and there will be solar panels on the roofs of all of the buildings.
The other half of the island will be a protected wildlife preserve. They also have plans to replant the mangroves in the area, bringing in native species to replace invasive ones, improving the conditions for fish breeding, and improving the conditions around the reef in general.
