According to a recent study done by AirBnb, most millennials prioritize travel is some pretty extreme ways. The study found that millennials in the United States, the United Kingdom, and China even prioritize travel more than buying a home or paying off existing debt.
The Chinese millennials ranked the highest in prioritizing travel, and found that 93 percent of them said that travel is an important part of their identity. Fittingly, AirBnb said that they had a 356 percent growth of Chinese Millennials using their service in the past year alone.
Chip Conley, the Airbnb Head of Global Hospitality and Strategy released a statement about the findings.
“It’s clear from this study that exploring the world is a top priority for millennials. This is especially true for Chinese millennials who are quickly becoming the world’s largest group of travelers. What’s also clear is that a significant proportion of millennials are looking for a different kind of travel experience, one that is unique to their interests, provides access to local cultures and is inherently social.”
They also found not only are millennials traveling more, but they are also more likely to create their own itineraries when doing so. Of course part of the increase in travel interest has to do with the millennial usage of social media.
