It looks like Dubai will be the first to launch a public Hyperloop system, which will transport passengers between Dubai and Abu Dhabi in a mere 12 minutes. By car those 99 miles generally take two hours of travel time, so the alternative would literally revolutionize the way that travel is done.
Hyperloop 1 (or H1), is teaming up with the Dubai Roads and Transport Authority to see if this Hyperloop system can be extended to greater Dubai as well.
In October it was announced that the DP World Group of Dubai donated $50 million to the cause for a Hyperlink system to move cargo throughout the world, but it looks like people will be hopping on soon as well.
H1 has also revealed some of their specific plans and design concepts for the pods that will be moving through the transport system. Next year the prototype of a full scale system will be tested in the middle of the Nevada desert.
Shervin Pishevar, the Executive Chairman of Hyperloop One, released a statement about the step forward.
