Delta Air-Lines has now completed putting wi-fi on all of their international planes, and it’s being powered by Gogo’s high-speed Ku-Band satellite technology.
This process began in 2008 when they started installing it on their domestic aircraft, and then they started installing it on their international aircraft in 2012. The job is finally complete.
All passengers can access the Delta.com site for free while onboard, where they can do things like book a flight, check miles, manage trip details, or even book a hotel or a car.
For a fee passengers can purchase the Delta Delta Wi-Fi Pass, which gives them full access to the internet. This can be bought ahead of time or on the flight. In flight mobile wi-fi passes can be bought for as low as $2.00 to use cell phones during the flight as well.
Of course being able to access wi-fi on a plane is a big deal and many people consider it a necessity. In 2014 one survey found that 14 percent of travelers had or would switch from their preferred airline to another one just because of wi-fi, and 22 percent of people would pay more for a flight with wi-fi capabilities onboard.
