Trump Hotels company has decided that here on out the new hotels will be called Scion instead. The Trump Hotels CEO, Eric Danziger, released a statement about the decision.
“We wanted a name that would be a nod to the Trump family and to the tremendous success it has had with its businesses, including Trump Hotels, while allowing for a clear distinction between our luxury and lifestyle brands.”
The company is not saying that the name change has anything to do with the controversial presidential campaign that Donald Trump is currently a part of, but the correlation can’t be totally denied.
The company recently opened the Trump International Hotel in D.C., which had to drop its prices considerably to entice guests during the International Monetary Fund conference, at a time when the rest of the hotels in the area were selling out.
When Trump made some public remarks about Mexican immigrants, two different chefs backed out of their restaurant contracts with the hotel. A variety of data has shown that drops have taken place since Trump started running, but reps for the company deny it.
“The data reported by both Hipmunk and Foursquare is manipulated to appear meaningful, when, in reality, the information is inconsequential and does not provide an accurate representation of our performance.”
