The holidays are rapidly approaching, and according to a recent report anyone planning to travel for the Christmas season should be booking those travel plans before Thanksgiving. The airfare prediction app Hopper suggests that the best time to book Christmas travel flights is 80 days before the holiday.
The flights for the Christmas season seem to start going up in October, but right now the flight prices are 15 percent lower than they were at this time in 2015. Right now the domestic roundtrip flights are averaging in at $305, but they are expected to continue rising by $1.50 each day.
The flights around the holidays are way higher than average, so anyone looking for a major deal should consider flying on the actual holidays. Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and New Year’s Eve are can offer some great deals when there is flexibility in travel plans.
Right now the domestic average for a Thanksgiving round trip flight is $323, but after October 31 that cost is expected continue rising $1.50 each day. In the ten day period right before Thanksgiving the cost can actually rise more dramatically at $6 per day.
