Sir Richard Branson’s Virgin line of hotels are now expanding to the west coast of California with a location in Milpitas, a town located in Silicon Valley. The hotel will be a part of a residential and retail complex called The Fields, and is expected to be open in the year 2019.
The Fields will have 1,100 residential units and 150,000 of retail space, while the hotel portion will have 200 rooms and suites as well as a rooftop bar, live music venue, coffee shop, and meeting spaces. It will be located next to the Milpitas Great Mall, and is close to BART stations for public transportation.
CEO Raul Leal spoke about the next hotel opening, which will join the only other current location in Chicago.
“As we grow the Virgin Hotels brand, the way we continue to expand our footprint in key destinations that align with our brand values is incredibly exciting. Our move into Silicon Valley is the perfect example of this, given our dedication to thoughtful technology within our guest experience.”
After the Milpitas location, they are planning to build hotels in Nashville, Dallas, Palm Springs, and New York, and then possibly followed by Boston, Los Angeles, Miami, Austin, Seattle, San Francisco, Washington D.C., and London.
