Atlantis Resorts have announced their plans to develop their first U.S. property in Hawaii. Hawaii developer Jeff Stone has confirmed that the chain will be opening a resort on the coast of Oahu. The project was initially started in 2005, but the plans had been stalled until recently.
The resort is expected to be similar to the location that they already have in Dubai, in the sense that it will have a dolphin bay, shark habitat, and other fun amenities like that. In fact many guests will have an up close view of an aquarium right from their room.
“This aquarium will look as the ocean looks. It’ll look as the sea looks today. You’ll be able to view it underneath. You’ll be able to interact with it, actually swim through it, and you’ll be able to learn from it in a natural setting.”
Some sources have claimed that the resort will be built on 15 acres of land on the Diamond Head side of Disney’s Aulani Resort, and that it could cost $2 billion to put in. The resort is expected to emplot 1,800 people, as well as attract people from all over the world and bring in hundreds of millions of dollars for the state at large.
