After being born aboard one of their flights, one lucky baby has been award a million non-expiring Airline Miles aboard Philippines-based budget airline Cebu Pacific.
Nothing should have happened, to be honest. Most airlines based in the United States, for example, don’t throw up any caution signs when a woman boards the flight at 32 weeks of pregnancy. However, on a flight from Dubai to Manila, the unexpected happened and a soon-to-be mother went into labor. Fortunately for the expectant mother, there were two nurses on board who helped ease the child, named Haven, into the world.
The flight diverted to Hyderabad, India to confirm the child’s health. Haven has become the first child born on a Cebu Pacific plane (a truly interesting distinction). Lance Gokongwei, President and CEO of the airline praised the cabin crew “for handling the situation with the utmost professionalism and efficiency.” He also singled out the heroism of the attending nurses before awarding the infant her lifetime of free air travel.
What’s most surprising is how unperturbed most of the passengers were. They claim that Haven’s unnamed mother allowed herself “one semi-loud screech” before her daughter was born. Haven herself did a bit more complaining before being wrapped in a blanket with her mother.
