The members-only Magic Castle in Los Angeles is set to open a second location by next Halloween in the Santa Barbara area. The owner Milt Larsen currently splits his time between the two cities and thought building the Magic Castle Cabaret would be a good idea.
The second location will be only one-fifth the size of the one in Los Angeles, and it will specialize in “close-up magic and variety arts.” The satellite location will be built in a former Mexican food restaurant, which will be remodeled to look more like a castle.
It has not been announced if the same membership process will be in effect at the Santa Barbara location. To attend the Los Angeles location guests either have to pay the $750 a year fee plus initiation fee, stay at the hotel next door and purchase passes, or get on the guests list of a performing magician.
